Allotment funding boost
Stroud Valleys Project has been working at the Bisley Old Road Allotment since 2011. At that point, the area was extremely uncultivated, with waist high grass and nettles. Over the years, through the hard work of volunteers and project officers, the allotment has become one of SVP’s most cherished projects, producing a yearly harvest of fruit and vegetables, as well as providing volunteers an opportunity to work in the open air, grow their own food and make new friends.
This grant will mean we can improve our raised beds and the polytunnel to make our growing sites more productive, as well as buying new tools and equipment for our volunteers. We will also be able to choose some healthy young plug plants to plant in our beds, which is something the volunteers really enjoy.
Volunteers enjoy planting vegetables… and trying to keep the slugs at bay!
The Finnis Scott Foundation is a grant-making foundation supporting horticulture, plant sciences and fine art. Established under the Will of Lady Montagu Douglas Scott (Valerie Finnis) in 2006, The Finnis Scott Foundation has donated grants to a wide range of small charities and organisations working to improve outcomes for the vulnerable and disadvantaged through horticulture, as well as large museums concerned with the conservation and exhibition of art.
Huge thanks to The Finnis Scott Foundation for their donation to the Bisley Old Road Allotment and seeing the value in this transformational project.
