In Stroud’s Wild Valleys former BBC Radio producer-turned conservation volunteer Al Booth explores some of the hidden, and not so hidden, wildlife havens in this beautiful part of the world. Accompanied by project leaders from Stroud Valleys Project and volunteers she experiences first-hand how people and nature can thrive together.

'I’ve volunteered at lots of the SVP sites so I’ve been lucky enough to experience that feeling of being immersed in the sounds of the landscape - from the rippling waters of the River Frome to the swans flying over the Stroudwater Navigation Canal. I wanted to share these sounds, and the stories of the people working with SVP, with a wider audience and this was a great opportunity to combine my love of audio with my love of nature. Having been a radio producer for almost 30 years I’ve been used to being behind the glass, or carrying the equipment for my presenter, so it’s also been great to get in front of the microphone and ask the questions for once!’ - Al Booth
