Family Dragonfly Walk

Join us for a walk, not with actual dragons, but dragonflies. Prehistoric fossils show dragonflies were up to 61cm in size! Today, these flying predators are still impressive, in their acrobatic flying abilities, bright colours, and the way they change from pond predator as young into, in some cases, aerial killing machines!

In our Walk with Dragonflies, we’ll stroll for a couple of kilometres along canal and river, to seek these flying insects, find out about their lifecycle, and learn the names of common local species using an ID chart, and binoculars.

Starting point is Capels Mill, canalside community greenspace near the viaduct,

Dr Newton’s Way, Stroud. What3Words location: possible.boarded.twitches
