Join Stroud Valleys Project and eel expert Dr Laura Weldon on World Rivers Day 2026 for a journey into the remarkable lifecycle of freshwater eels.

There will be eel tales and activities for all to enjoy. We will even be DNA testing the water to see if eels are present! This event will be taking place near to Arundel Mill Pond, which is on the towpath going towards Brimscombe. Exact location details are provided after booking. Suitable for children aged 9+

World Rivers Day is an annual global celebration held on the fourth Sunday of every September to highlight the value of rivers and waterways and encourage their protection.

This event is part of Cotswold Canals Connected Canal Reflections series, made possible by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
