Join the Stitch and Stir Roadshow!

We love a collab, and this month, we’re working with Transition Stroud and the Natural Cookery School to present more sessions on practical sustainability as part of our Stitch and Stir Roadshow, funded by Gloucestershire County Council.

Stitch and Stir Roadshow aims to help people across the district to repair clothes and cook affordably, to boost confidence, save money and reduce carbon.

We’ve got two of the area’s leading lights on board to present sessions, which are FREE to take part in and will leave you with new skills that will help you save cash, as well as being kinder to the planet.

Stitch It! is hosted by Transition Stroud’s Clare Sheridan, who invites you to bring that ripped T-shirt or snagged jumper so she can show you how to make it as good as new – or even better! Clare’s a talented upcycler, so she’ll have plenty of ideas of how you can personalise your clothing so it’s just right for you.

Stir It Up! is presented by Erin Baker of the Natural Cookery School, who’s an expert on cooking seasonal dishes that are both sustainable and affordable. Erin will show you how to make three warming winter dishes from one base sauce, using ingredients you can easily find in your local supermarket. The session is specifically aimed at those who want to cook fresh, healthy and seasonal meals without spending a fortune.

Stitch It! sessions are taking place at GL11 in Cam on Thursday 15 January and in Hardwicke’s Two for Joy café on Friday 20 February, as well as one more session at All Pulling Together in Stonehouse; dates to be confirmed.

The GL11 session is part of GL11’s regular over 60s group; anyone over 60 is welcome to attend and you can drop in without booking. You’re welcome to bring your own needles and other sewing equipment, and even your own sewing machine if you wish.

Stir It Up! is on Tuesday 20 January, also at GL11 and runs from 4.30 to 6.30pm. It also includes a free creche for children aged under eight. Booking is essential and you can book your place at stroudvalleysproject.org/events.
