Going the Extra Mile (GEM)

The GEM Project was a unique and unprecedented partnership of over 50 Voluntary and Community Sector Enterprise (VCSE) and other organisations in Gloucestershire, and Stroud Valleys Project is proud to be a part of it.

This project aimed to engage with and support individuals within Gloucestershire who were dealing with circumstances that were potentially causing barriers to work, and to move these people closer to education, training or work, including self-employment. Given our expertise we focused on, but were not restricted to, land-based work.

We have committed to work collaboratively to help individuals with specific needs or requirements to overcome any barriers they may have and effectively improve their lives. During the course of the project we helped many of our volunteers and people known to our charity to find work, training or education, and we have had some fantastic success stories. We have also enjoyed working in partnership with the other organisations from all across Gloucestershire.

The Gem project worked with people who would like to get into work, education or training. Our Navigator Developer can help people on a 1 to 1 basis for 6 to 9 months.
