Wild Classrooms website

is based around the challenge to see if people can spot 60 different plant and animal species in a year. It is perfect for keeping busy locally, because most of the plants and animals can be seen in your garden or other nearby greenspaces.

When you register, you are given a virtual woodland and you can add up to 10 people to your group.

In your woodland, everyone will get a virtual tree with bare branches. Then each month you will be given five species to spot.

When you put them on the site, a leaf will appear on your own tree.

So the more animals and plants you spot, the more leaves you’ll see on your tree.

You can also upload photos, drawings and poems of the plants and animals you have seen.

The site also includes some background information about each plant and animal and you can follow links to other wildlife organisations.

So the next time you’re out in your garden or out and about generally, why not join us at www.wildclassrooms.org and help us celebrate the everyday plants and animals that we often overlook, and help get them noticed and loved?

If you work with children and would like to be involved in the project or would like some resources, please contact Tamsin on 01453 753358 or tamsin@stroudvalleysproject.org
