Working at Bisley Road Cemetery in partnership with Stroud Town Council
The Thursday volunteers have been working with Stroud Town Council (STC) Green Spaces Team at Bisley Road Cemetery in Stroud under the watchful eye of Jim Mathison and his team to strim and rake up grass cuttings over the past few weeks.
Thanks to the warm weather, our team has been able to appreciate at first hand some of the amazing wildlife that lives there, such as Slow worm and Common lizard - see picture.
This habitat work of managing the large grassland area at the old cemetery is done on a three year rotation of different grassland and scrub areas, lessoning the impact on wildlife and diversity. The work enables us to work with knowledgeable and committed members of staff from STC whose knowledge about the wildlife that lives in and around the cemetery has been great for all the volunteers to take in and enjoy.
